Logona has come a long way in terms of establishing themselves in the world of natural cosmetics, 39 years to be exact. So how did Logona come about? It all began when a young woman by the name of Hans Hansel first founded the ‘Alraune’ shop, one of the first health food shops in Germany. At that time, the products that were sold ranged from macrobiotics, cereals, spices and herbs to natural cosmetics that were imported from the UK and Spain.
Unfortunately for Hans Hansel, she was faced with some problems at the start as the imported natural cosmetics did not adhere to her ideology of providing environmentally friendly cosmetics to her customers. Something needed to change and it was just a few short years later that “Lorien Goods”, a brand of cosmetics that were made from controlled organic ingredients, was created. This brand of cosmetics sat well with the founders who had planned to produce high quality and sustainable natural cosmetics. Logona really started taking off in terms of development when it moved to an old watermill near Salzhemmendorf. In 1984, Logona became the pioneer in developing “PUR”, the very first range of natural cosmetics for allergy sufferers. Made from mild and natural ingredients which are united with moisturising agents, “PUR” gently enhances the skin’s essential hydrolipid film, thus strengthening its resistance to harmful environmental influences.
Just a year later, Logona was faced with another setback, this time being forced by court order to change its name due to alleged confusion with another cosmetics company. As a result, Lorien Goods became LOGONA Naturkosmetik GmbH. In 1988, LOGONA moved to its current premises, the Kräuterwiese (herb meadow). During this same year, the LOGOCOS GmbH holding company was also founded.
The next few years were shaped by the ambitious aim of offering natural alternatives to conventional cosmetics in every product segment. Besides being the pioneer of natural cosmetics, Logona also actively campaigned for the development of a label for natural cosmetics during the second part of the 1990s. Fast forward to today, Logona has continued to make consistent strides in the development of the brand.
