In early 2017, GoPurpose’s founder Serena Kao led the company on a new journey of driving social impact based on the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company is a member of the United Nation Sustainable Development Solution Network (UN SDSN) focusing on SDG #3 (good health and wellbeing), SDG #4 (quality education), SDG #8 (decent work and economic growth), SGD #11 (sustainable cities and communities), SDG #13 (climate action), and SDG #17 (partnership for the goals).
In order to drive the UN SDGs in a more impactful and sustainable way, GoPurpose did a review on the crowdfunding business model and decided to transform the existing model to an e-commerce marketplace. Through this business model, the social enterprise is able to reach out to more beneficiaries as well its supporters. GoPurpose has invested in creating a strong branded online marketplace/platform for SDG compliant vendors/suppliers to sell their products. The vetting process includes collating social impact information for the company’s internal rating system.
